What Can Be Registered as a Trademark?

​Under the current Indonesian Trademark Law, a wide variety of signs may be registered as trademarks, including images, logos, names, words, letters, numerals, colour arrangements, two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) shapes, sounds, holograms, and combinations of two or more of these elements, provided that they are capable of distinguishing the goods and/or services of one undertaking from those of another.​ 

Filing Requirements

1. Simply signed and scanned POA and Declaration (No notarization or legalization required);
2. Mark in JPEG (incl. information on the color(s) claimed, if any);
3. Meaning and pronunciation of the non-English/non-Latin trademarks;
4. Applicant details (full name & address, and nationality);
5. List of your products (goods and/or services);
6. Scanned Certificate of Incorporation and its sworn Indonesian translation (for corporate applicant);
7. Priority documents and its sworn Indonesian translation (if applicable).

Timeframe

Approximately 6 to 15 months.

Once registered, the trademark rights shall be valid for 10 years from the filing date, and renewable for successive 10-year periods.
